INFERTILITY TREATMENT
About Infertility Treatment
Even a healthy couple under 30 years old has only approximately a 20-25% chance of conceiving in a single cycle. About 80-85% of couples achieve a positive pregnancy test within one year of trying. If you have been trying to conceive for longer than a year, it is advisable to visit our center, as age plays a crucial role in infertility treatment. Without treatment, the chances of conception after one year of unsuccessful attempts are very low.
Furthermore, delaying the resolution of underlying causes not only reduces the chances of successful treatment but also increases the likelihood of requiring more complex forms of treatment, such as IVF. Couples where the female partner is over 35 years old should consult a specialist after just six months of unsuccessful attempts.
Initial Consultation
There are many causes of infertility, as well as treatment options. Therefore, to embark on the right path towards your desired baby, there is nothing better than consulting your situation with a specialist. During the initial consultation, which is free for clients of Slovak health insurance companies, the doctor can provide you with fundamental insights:
- What the probable cause of infertility is, or what examinations and further diagnostics are recommended in your case for a more precise determination.
- What treatment options are available in your specific case and the proposed treatment plan.
Please remember that to book an initial consultation, you do not need a referral or any test results. However, if you have results, a recommendation from your gynecologist, or a report from previous treatment, please bring them with you. Any such information will help us create a more comprehensive picture of your reproductive health and its development over time.

Since infertility is a couple’s issue, it is highly desirable that both partners attend the initial consultation. Upon arrival and checking in at the clinic reception, our receptionists will first handle some administrative matters with you. The consultation itself – meaning the discussion with the doctor where you review your medical history and options for further steps, including answers to your questions – usually lasts half an hour. If you have multiple questions, do not hesitate to bring them written down on a list. The initial consultation is non-binding and is also intended to provide you with sufficient information for your decision on the next steps.
Information you should prepare for the doctor should include:
- Any health problems either partner may have.
- Past illnesses that, by themselves or their treatment, could affect reproductive health, or surgeries in the area of reproductive organs.
- Details about the menstrual cycle, such as its duration, regularity, and course (painfulness, PMS, etc.). If you keep a menstrual calendar, please bring it with you.
- Information about your efforts to conceive – how long you have been trying for a baby, the frequency of sexual intercourse, whether there has been any pregnancy loss during your attempts, etc.
- Information about family medical history – have your parents, siblings, or any other relatives experienced fertility issues?
During the consultation, a gynecological examination of the female partner is also performed in the clinic, which includes an ultrasound examination and gynecological swabs. Blood samples are also taken from both partners during this clinic visit. In addition to these examinations, we also require the results of the partner’s sperm analysis. An appointment for this can be made on the same day as your consultation, and the sample can be submitted during this visit. For the most accurate sperm analysis results, it is advisable to observe 2-3 days of sexual abstinence.
