Donation

By donating eggs, you can help a woman who longs for a child and become her anonymous hero.

The process is safe; only eggs that would naturally perish are retrieved, so it will not affect your fertility.

For your donation, you will receive financial compensation of at least €1,000 and a chance to win a stay at the 5* Hotel Lomnica or another experience.

Why Donate Eggs at GYNCARE?

Who Can Become a Donor?

To donate eggs, several conditions must be met:

  • Age 21 to 32 years

Donate Hope and Win a Luxury Experience

Become a donor and, in addition to €1,000 compensation, you can also win one of our experience prizes! Every quarter, we draw one donor from all three clinics, who will win a wellness stay for two at the luxurious 5* Hotel Lomnica in the heart of the High Tatras.

Additionally, for each clinic, we draw one donor who will win another valuable experience – for donors in Bratislava and Nitra, we have a 10-course tasting dinner at ARTE RESTAURANT in Pálffy Manor, and for donors from Košice, we have a full-day wellness pass for two at Hotel Lomnica.

If you agree, after a successful egg donation, you will be automatically entered into the next drawing for one of these unforgettable experiences.

Frequently Asked Questions

Approximately 15-20% of couples in Slovakia suffer from infertility. We can help most of them conceive using their own cells, but for some women, the possibility of conceiving with their own eggs is unattainable. The most common causes are overcoming oncological treatment or premature ovarian failure, where the egg supply is depleted at a much younger age than in most women. Another reason for using donated eggs can be genetic diseases that would be passed on to the baby if their own eggs were used. For all these women, donated eggs are the only option to experience pregnancy and give birth to a healthy baby.

Egg donation in Slovakia is strictly anonymous on both sides, meaning the donor does not know who received the eggs, and the recipient does not know who donated them. Donated eggs can only be used for the treatment of infertility in a couple.

Candidates for egg donation at GYNCARE clinics must undergo several tests and examinations before the donation itself to verify if they are suitable donors. These specific tests and examinations include:

  1. Ovarian Reserve Examination
  2. Tests for sexually transmitted diseases – donors are tested via blood samples for HIV, syphilis, and hepatitis B and C, and chlamydia is tested from urine.
  3. Genetic tests – in addition to karyotyping, the examination focuses primarily on carrier status for the most common genetic diseases such as cystic fibrosis, spinal muscular atrophy, genetically linked deafness, fragile X syndrome, and genetic abnormalities leading to fertility disorders.

The winner is drawn once a quarter – every three months – and you are entered into the drawing for the quarter in which the egg retrieval took place. We will contact the winner by email immediately after the drawing.

Compensation for egg donation is paid in cash on the day of retrieval, after waking up from short-term anesthesia. This compensation covers the time spent, as well as other costs and discomfort associated with the egg donation process. Compensation for egg donors has been approved by a professional society; egg donation itself is voluntary by law.

The most common potential complication is ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome, where the ovaries react excessively to treatment. You may experience mild lower abdominal pain or a feeling of bloating. All these sensations will subside with the onset of menstruation, which will occur within two weeks.

The safety of every donor is our top priority. We will prepare a customized hormonal stimulation protocol for you, and we use low doses of substances (gonadotropins) for stimulation to avoid the risk of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome.

After the retrieval itself, spotting or mild vaginal bleeding may occur, as eggs are retrieved via needle puncture. Other complications are very rare, and most donors and patients experience no difficulties and resume their daily activities the very next day after egg retrieval.

Egg donation itself cannot cause infertility in the donor, as during egg retrieval, we only obtain those eggs that would naturally perish during a standard menstrual cycle. For prospective donors, initial examinations determine their egg supply (ovarian reserve), which is a significant benefit for them. If a decrease in this supply is detected in any individual, donation will not proceed. The doctor will inform her about the state of her reproductive health and recommend procedures to increase her chances of achieving pregnancy in the future, should she not yet be considering starting a family at that time.

An egg donor can donate eggs repeatedly, and it is no longer necessary to undergo all previous examinations and tests, which significantly shortens the entire process. The number of donations depends on individual health status and other factors related to egg donation.

Typically, the entire donation process – from filling out the contact form to egg retrieval and compensation payment – takes 3 to 4 months.

According to Slovak legislation, egg donation is anonymous, meaning that donating eggs to a specific person is not possible. Anonymity is mutual. The egg donor will not know who received the eggs, and the egg recipient will not know who donated them.

We recommend that egg donors avoid sexual intercourse during hormonal stimulation. After egg retrieval, you may have protected sexual intercourse.

We do not recommend donating eggs while breastfeeding due to the use of hormonal preparations during hormonal stimulation. You may proceed with donation three months after discontinuing breastfeeding and six months after childbirth.
